Red Clover for Hot Flash Treatment

As the clover begins to blossom we can remember that it used to be boiled and used commonly in medical tinctures and ointments. It contains many beneficial components including calcium, chromium, phosphorus, and potassium.

Red clover and it’s extracts may be placing this plant, not typically consumed by humans into the newest category of superfoods derived from herbal medicine.

New data is emerging on red clover extracts showing that it can be slightly beneficial by it self to reduce osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and have some efficacy against hot flashes as well. 

Red clover’s benefits probably work through the chemical pathways of inflammation and prevents the release of the proinflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha that are ultimately responsible for the end result diseases like atherosclerosis, cognitive decline and cancers.

While earlier studies failed to show that Red Clover products on the market outperformed placebo for hot flashes, we may have not been looking at the best feature of the plant. And what is really important is to get an accurate diagnosis and come up with a plan for monitoring any therapy.  So when you think of red clover, here’s a new way to look at the benefits of hormone therapy!
