Women With Fluctuating Estrogen Levels More Likely to Have Anxiety

Hormonal treatment with estrogen can improve anxiety and decrease panic attacks due to unchecked anxiety in women. There is some relation to the level of estrogen you have. Blood testing while getting hormonal treatment is important. Determining that fluctuation, when not in a research study can be difficult.

Recently a new publication by Dr. Pauline Maki has shown that more stable levels of estrogen are correlated with better mental health and less anxiety. We use the FSH level as a marker of overall effectiveness. Isolated tests are not always revealing of the day by day estrogen levels.

One of the reasons to select transdermal or Biote implants for treatment of menopause is to increase the stability of the levels. Timing of when you take your pills will cause variability in the peaks and troughs.

Too much fluctuation of the levels of the estrogen when treating menopause is correlated with increased levels of anxiety.

If your physician has not done any testing, you may consider for consultation with us. Testing your levels and trying a different route of delivery for your hormone therapy.
