Vaginal Infections
Bacterial Vaginosis / Vulvovaginal Candidiasis
There are several types of vaginal infections. Some women have bacterial infections. This is known as bacterial vaginosis. Other women have a yeast infection. Your doctor refers to this as vulvovaginal candidiasis. But did you realize that you may have both infections at the same time? Unfortunately, there is no single medication for mixed infections. Your doctor and staff are conducting a clinical research study to possibly treat both infections at the same time.
You may qualify for this study if you are:
- 16 years of age or older
- Currently experiencing vaginal discharge
- Experiencing vaginal burning, itching, and/or irritation
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Not currently menstruating or expect to begin your period within five days
- Currently not having a genital herpes outbreak or have not had an outbreak in the last 4 weeks
- Not using or have used any antibiotics or vaginal products in the last 14 days
If you qualify, you will receive at no cost:
- Study related examinations
- Laboratory tests to determine the type(s) of vaginal infection you have
- Study medication
You may also be compensated for your time and travel.
