RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Women's Health Practice, LLC (WHP), which was founded in 1945, offers comprehensive gynecologic, obstetrics, and wellness care for women, and participates in clinical research studies as a privately contracted entity. WHP believes in the fundamental right of women to comprehensive health care, including a strong commitment to reproductive choices. WHP provides women with a full range of medical services and health options, promotes the health of the community, and supports a variety of educational programs and materials for the public. WHP keeps abreast of new technologies and medical advancements, offering state-of-the-art care in a modern facility that has an AAAHC accredited ambulatory surgical center MidWest Surgical Center LLC, onsite ultrasound, and bone densitometry testing. WHP has Illinois' first Neomatrix Halo Breast Pap Testing Device for detection of precancerous changes of the breast. Outpatient surgical capabilities include general anesthestic gynecologic procedures such as laparaotmy tubal ligation, Essure sterilizations, pelvic floor surgery with mesh repairs, laparoscopy, operative hysteroscopy, laparoscopic technology with digital video imaging and cystoscopy A moderately complex CLIA laboratory is located onsite. Outpatient laboratory and MRI services are located within the office campus. Our newest addition, Hada Cosmetic Medicine, LLC, located in downtown Champaign, IL, offers services including skin cancer prevention, acne treatments, skin renewal, and laser therapies as well as medical grade skin treatments . Hada also offers the latest in non-surgical technology and treatments such as injectable fillers and Botox therapy. WHP has developed a modern research center. The research center consists of a locked chart storage area, staff meeting areas, private offices for monitoring visits equipped with high-speed internet access, electronic medical record access, and offices for coordinators, regulatory, and recruitment staff. Research staff is HIPPA rained, CCRC and IATA certified and have received GCP and Human Research Participant Protection taining. WHP research staff is ACRP certified with years of experience with clinical trials. Women’s Health Practice is located in the twin cities of Champaign-Urbana, a dynamic university-based community. It is the home of the University of Illinois and Parkland Community College, In the surrounding area we have over a dozen universities and community colleges that we draw on for study protocols. Situated in East Central Illinois, with an approximate population of 175,000, Champaign-Urbana is located 2.5 hours south of Chicago, 2 hours west of Indianapolis, and 3 hours northeast of St. Louis via interstates I-57, I-72, and I-74 access. WHP is on city transportation lines, and is located approximately 3 miles from University of Illinois Willard Airport and 2 miles from the Amtrak station. The Bloomington-Normal airport (BMI) is only 50 miles away and offers direct flights to many major cities as the central Illinois hub. Health care options in Champaign County include two full-service hospitals, Carle Foundation Hospital and Provena-Covenant Medical Center; both are located in Urbana and are less than 4 miles from WHP. Carle Foundation Hospital is one of three hospitals in Illinois south of the Chicago-land area in Illinois to earn the distinction of a Level I Trauma Center, Provena-Covenant is a Level II Trauma Center. Carle Foundation Hospital also offers Level III perinatal services. These state-of-the-art facilities in the Champaign-Urbana area and the unique services provided by Women’s Health Practice, draws patients from a five state area. OVER 150 TRIALS Suzanne Trupin, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist and CEO of Women’s Health Practice. Through affiliation with the University of Illinois, basic science research is possible only with University IRB reviewed and approved projects. WHP is also an independent practice able to use a Central IRB. Dr. Trupin is a Clinical Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine where she served as acting Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for over 19 years. She works collaboratively with many university divisions. Over the past twenty three years, Women’s Health Practice has worked with over 60 sponsor companies, and has been awarded grants for Phase I-IV research. Suzanne Trupin, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Women's Health Practice, and is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist; Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign. She served as Director then Department Head at UICOM-UC from 1981-1999. Her special interests include contraception, menopause, osteoporosis, sexuality, premenstrual syndrome, gynecologic urology, abnormal Pap smears, and abortion medicine. She graduated with a B.A. from Stanford University in 1974, completed medical school at New York Medical College in 1977, and did her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at L.A. County Hospital, University of Southern California Medical Center from 1977-1981, after which she joined the medical partnership of Women's Health Practice, which was established in 1945. Dr. Trupin is an honorary member of the North Dakota Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology. American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recertification 1994 and annually 2000-2006; North American Menopause Society (NAMS) credentialed Menopause Practitioner; Certified in Bone Densitometry; and President and one of the founding non-profit organization, Champaign County Aquatic Education and Development Corporation. Dr. Suzanne Trupin served as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1992-1997, and is a journal reviewer for Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Academic Medicine, Journal of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Carle Selected Papers, Contraception, UpToDate.com, Menopause, Journal of Women’s Health, Journal of American Medical Women’s Association, emedicine.com, and emedicinehealth.com She is a guest speaker for Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, CIBA-Geigy Laboratories, Council on Hormone Education, Eli Lilly and Company, Foundation for Better Healthcare, and Strategic Medical Education, and is on the speaker's bureau of the Illinois State Medical Society. Dr. Trupin also is an advisor/consultant for Central Illinois Medical Review Organization, and Illinois News Radio Network (University of Illinois News Bureau). Dr. Trupin has been recognized as a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD), bone densitometry certification, by The International Society for Clinical Densitometry, and is certified in CPR, ACLS, and neonatal resuscitation. Sub-Investigators: Women's Health Practice collaborates with sub-investigators outside of WHP with expertise in a variety of therapeutic areas. Patients of multiple nationalities, wide span age group, and various socioeconomic statuses seek medical care at Women’s Health Practice. We are a university-based community (approximate population of 175,000) with several smaller outlying rural communities who seek medical care in the Champaign-Urbana area, which provides a large study recruitment population. Women’s Health Practice sees approximately 80-90 patients per day, these patients come from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic groups.
